Easter is such a fun time for crafts. There are just so many adorable ideas out there, it’s hard to decide which ones to try! Since I was home this past week, I got to dye Easter eggs with my little sister. It was a blast since neither of us have dyed eggs in years…and I don’t think an Easter is complete without a few real dyed eggs.
The only downside to the egg dyeing party was that we only had 6 eggs in the house and we couldn’t find any good rubber bands. We did the best we could, though… 🙂
While at Wal Mart the other night, I picked up some crochet thread, water balloons, and liquid starch so I could do this fun craft I’ve been dying to try. It was much messier and more time consuming than I thought it would be, but I think the end result was worth it!
Here are some other DIY ideas to try for Easter. Hope you enjoy!

Happy Valentine’s Day readers!
I have lots of fond memories of Valentine’s days at home growing up. My mom would always make a special breakfast and at each of our places at the table we would find a Valentine’s Day poem written by our dad on a doily or red piece of construction paper. His poems to us were the silliest. He actually just texted me my Valentine for this year:
Evangeline is a kitten as she is so Smitten,
and she has her Colby
and that’s just fine.
But don’t you forget, still you’re my Valentine!
As you can tell, my dad is the greatest. For more Valentines, check out some of these!
Colby is out of town again so we’ll be celebrating this weekend,… so I think tonight if my friends are busy I’ll probably turn on last night’s re-run of the Bachelor and sit down with some chocolates and soak in all the sappy drama 🙂 … hmmm… that doesn’t sound too bad! haha
Hope you all can enjoy the day! Here’s another cute little project I’ll leave you with from Hi Sugarplum.
Today was a good day. We went to church and taught the 1st graders and then on our way home, we stopped at one of my favorite spots near Lynn.
KANE’S DONUTS! Not many people I know know about this place because it’s in Saugus,…but if you are ever driving near there and are around Route 1, it’s worth a trip!
My favorite place for doughnuts used to be Krispy Kreme… when you can go to one of those ones that serves them HOT! Well, there aren’t any Krispy Kremes nearby so Kane’s is my place. It’s full of locals, it’s got a huge assortment of doughnuts, muffins, giant coffee rolls, coffee of course, etc…. You walk in and you feel like you stepped into a cute diner from the 50’s. I love it, so I make Colby take me there from time to time. 🙂 Today we couldn’t just get one doughnut each, so we got 3 and split all of them in half when we got home. So much for trying to start eating healthier!!
I just sat down to watch the Grammy’s and wait for Downton Abbey to start. I’m a huge music fan but it’s been a really long time since I’ve sat down and watched some of the Grammy’s…. I think I’ll try to watch an hour while I drink some tea and make a few Valentines…. then at 9:00 I’ll turn it over to some Masterpiece Theater!
Colby went back to Chicago today so I’m just chilling out tonight. Thankfully, this time, the husband will only be gone til Friday night. After that he starts his actual work and he won’t have to be traveling overnight very much anymore. YAY!
Here’s what’s on my coffee table (and will be spread all over the living room floor) tonight:

My husband Colby is coming back tomorrow night! The back story to that is he’s been gone since Jan. 8 when he got a new job and had to go to sales training in Chicago. It’s like a 6 week training program so obviously I’m ready to have him home again.
Thankfully I was able to fly out there and see him the weekend of the 20th so it hasn’t been too long since we’ve seen each other.
In honor of him coming home, and because he won’t be able to be here for Feb. 14th (he has to go back to Chicago for 5 more days next week) I wanted to brighten the living room up a little bit and add some red & pink here and there.
On Saturday, aside from just exploring the many interesting places one can explore in Lynn, I was really on a mission to find cute pink/red fabric and some ribbon. I got a little bit of both, but didn’t have much time tonight to do a whole lot (I’m sleepy!). Have I mentioned I don’t really sew? I was thinking of making bunting with the fabric but I haven’t gotten around to that just yet… So really, I just bought the cheapest coffee beans I could find, put them in a plain vase, added a tea light candle, and tied a ribbon around the vase. Then I rearranged the random knick knacks on our bookshelf in the living room and lit a bunch of candles. It’s not much, but it’s okay for now.
Valentine’s Day is obviously just around the corner, and I’ve been noticing more and more heart shaped and pink / red colored pins popping up all over Pinterest. I was pinning so many just Valentines-themed things, I had to create my own Valentines Day board! I wanted to capture a few things here that I saw that I hope to recreate a little bit…at least one or two these ideas, that is!
